In the last couple of months I have written to a number of friends and colleagues from
various fields whose work I feel connected to, inviting them to participate in the project
sense / correspondence. I asked them to contribute a transposition of a sensory
experience in text, drawing or sound.

"The project investigates the interchangeability between the human senses, how each
sense relates to the others and how one sensory experience can be evoked through
another. What kind of images can a sound evoke? How do we trace a movement in a
drawing? How can we describe a sensation of touch through writing?"

The request was modified and adjusted in accordance to each addressee's work and
context. The material I received will be presented as an ongoing collection of ideas. This
collection will be activated in a video performance and will serve as a starting point for
creating further scripts and works in the future.

I was invited by Barbara Kapusta and Stephan Lugbauer to participate in the exhibition
project Saprophyt for which I propose a parallel approach in relation to the objects and
art works in their space.

Ines Lechleitner is an artist working in Berlin since 2005. Her works explore systems of
nonverbal communication and the spaces in which they take place.
